Does 'virsh --connect test:///path/to/testdriver.xml nodedev-list
--tree' show output? If not, the updated libvirt probably wasn't
installed correctly.

I usually configure with

./configure --enable-compile-warnings=error --prefix=/usr
--localstatedir=/var --sysconfdir=/etc --libdir=/usr/lib64
